As I write this letter to address my fellow members of the Southern Association, I am encouraged by the receding numbers of COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations in most of the south. It allows me to be optimistic that we will be able to fully experience the unique mix of top-quality science, clinical experience, fellowship, and social engagement that is the special brew of the SAVS Annual Meeting.

I am pleased to inform all of you that the SAVS committees have been working diligently along with our colleagues at PRRI to prepare an outstanding meeting program and social agenda for the meeting to be held in Manalapan FL, January 19-22. Over 180 abstracts were submitted for consideration for the program, the second highest total in the history of the Annual Meeting and the most in 15 years. The quality of these was uniformly excellent, presenting significant challenges to program committee chairman Hernan Bazan and his committee to select a chosen few for presentation at the meeting. The program they have prepared is outstanding, with a wide variety of subjects addressed, and a strong mix of free papers, case studies and basic science.
