Southern Association for Vascular Surgery (SAVS)

SAVS President

To me, the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery represents tradition, fellowship, and camaraderie. It consists of a group of surgeons who are proud of their heritage but defining their future, recognizing changes in practice, changes in our social structure, and changing course as appropriate. ďIf you drink from a well, honor and think of the people who dug that wellĒ is one of my favorite sayings. To those who created and evolved the SAVS (too many to call out individually), thank you. I am sure they would be proud of the society. We are widely recognized as the best of the regionals, both scientifically and socially. I see nothing to prevent this from continuing. It is interesting to me that of all the societies of whom I am a member, the SAVS is the one in which I feel most vetted and aligned, and from my conversations with many of you, a feeling reflected by most.

Block your schedules for the 49th Annual Meeting of The Southern Association for Vascular Surgery which will be held January 22-25th, 2025 at The Westin Beach Resort & Spa a Frenchmanís Reef in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands!

Details regarding the meeting and hotel registration information will be provided in the coming months. In addition to the usual robust scientific program, the Westin Frenchmanís Reef has recently undergone a $425 million renovation after hurricane damage, reopening in Spring of last year. The resort is perched above the beautiful blue water of the Caribbean, and recent renovations included the guestrooms, lobbies, bars, nine restaurants/lounges, convention space, spa and fitness center. The resort is now a beautiful spot with a jogging trail, numerous water activities, including boat chartering/deep sea fishing opportunities, which will hopefully bring you AND your family to the meeting next year. Please register early for the Annual Meeting and secure a room within the SAVS block as well as make your airline reservations early to obtain the best possible fares and itinerary.
